The free trial

Hosted start — the website and pricing flows start a hosted Agent trial. You can chat, research, create content, connect integrations including Slack, and review the starter plan. The model is fixed to GPT-5.6 Luna at High effort and scheduled workflows are not available on Free.

Hosted-compute limit — the trial includes up to 72 hours of active hosted-machine time, separate from the credit limit. Idle trial machines suspend after 15 minutes, so idle time does not burn the active-hour allowance. Viewing a status page alone does not count as activity. A suspended agent can still be woken while the allowance remains; starting with the third wake, Magister more prominently suggests upgrading for an always-on agent, but does not block the wake.

Inactive hosted projects — after three days without meaningful work, Magister emails a deletion warning. The project is retained for at least four full days from the first successfully sent warning and for at least seven total inactive days. Returning to work cancels that inactivity countdown. A project whose trial allowance is exhausted keeps its existing seven-day grace period.

MCP-first start — signing up from the MCP connector hub can create a machine-free Free organization instead. Whether that organization can authorize MCP is checked against the current access policy at connection time. When Free access is enabled, it uses the same one-time credit allowance for eligible Magister tools; when an active plan is required, choose Connect or Agent and then reconnect from your MCP client. It does not include Agent-only automation.

When the allowance ends — Magister shows an upgrade path to Connect or Agent. Free credits do not renew monthly, and Free does not support paid brand or seat add-ons. On either paid plan, owners and admins can enable overage charges in Organization Settings → Billing when they need more than the monthly included credits.
